For this year's conference, we will delve into innovative thinking, professional empowerment, and the navigation of educational policy landscapes. These connections bring our "Connect, Inspire, Empower" theme to life; as we bridge diverse perspectives, spark transformative ideas, and cultivate sustainable educational ecosystems. Together, educators from about fifty schools will engage in valuable dialogue and collaborative exploration, infusing vitality into our learning communities.

Associate Professor

Beijing Normal University

Lin PAN潘琳is associate professor, vice-chair of English Department at Beijing Normal University (BNU), China. Before joining BNU, she was Coordinator for Mandarin Excellence Programme (MEP) and John Adams Research Fellow at UCL Institute of Education. She was associate professor at Beijing Language and Culture University and programme officer at the Chinese Ministry of Education. Her research interests are language ideologies, sociolinguistics and language education. She is the book author for English as a global language in China: deconstructing the ideological discourse of English in language education published by Springer International in 2015. She also co-edited Mandarin Chinese Teacher Education: issues and solution by UCL IOE press in 2018 and co-authored Exploring World Englishes: Language in a Global Context with Dr. Philip Seargeant of the Open University, UK to be published in December 2025 with Routledge.

The full conference program, including detailed session titles and speakers, will be available approximately one month before the conference. Below is a tentative schedule for reference. Times and activities are subject to change.

Conference Eve, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

  • Sponsor table setup. Tables, chairs, electrical, and table numbers prepared in advance; sponsors set up at their assigned tables.

 

Conference Day 1, 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Typical activities (order may vary)

  • Buses pick up from designated conference hotels

  • Registration & Coffee on arrival

  • Opening ceremony / welcome

  • Keynote session

  • Concurrent peer presentations / breakout sessions

  • Lunch

  • Social function or networking reception at the end of the day (finger food and drinks rather than a full dinner; informal networking in a relaxed atmosphere)

Conference Day 2, 7:45 AM – 2:45 PM

  • Coffee on arrival

  • While we recommend our designated conference hotels for convenience and special rates, attendees are welcome to book alternative accommodations. 

  • Complimentary conference shuttle service is exclusively available between the designated conference hotels and the host school.  If you (and/or your colleagues) book other hotels, you will need to arrange your own transportation to the host school during the conference days. 

  • All participants are kindly asked to arrange their own transportation to the hotel upon arrival to Beijing.

  • This is the most convenient station, it's directly on Subway Line 14, the same line as all conference hotels  

  • Serves most high-speed trains  

  • From other stations (北京北站 Beijing North, 清河站 Qinghe, 北京西站 Beijing West, or 北京站 Beijing Railway Station): 40 minutes to 1 hour  

  • From 丰台站 Fengtai Railway Station: About 1.5 hours by Subway/Didi  

 

✈️ By Air 

  • (👍RECOMMENDED) 北京首都国际机场 Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK): ~30 minutes by taxi/Didi  

  • 北京大兴国际机场 Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX): ~ 2.5 hours travel time

At the end of the conference, our complimentary shuttles will depart from the host school to the following destination(s). Choose the one that works for you.

Arrival: 14:55 

Best for: Anyone departing by train 

  • From this Subway Line 14 station, transfer to reach any Beijing railway station 

  • 北京南站 Beijing South Railway Station is your best option - direct on Line 14, serves most high-speed trains 

  • Travel time from Subway station to railway station: ~1 hour 

  • ⚠️ Plan to arrive at the railway station at least 1.5 hour before your train departure 

️️✈️OPTION 2: 北京首都国际机场 Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK)

Arrival: 15:15 

Best for: Anyone flying out of PEK 

 

Departing from 北京大兴国际机场 Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) 

  • The shuttle does NOT go to PKX 

  • You'll need to arrange your own transportation

About the Host School

Founded in 2002, Daystar is a K-12 school in Beijing. It provides a first-class international curriculum and a balanced Chinese-English bilingual and bicultural education. The school continues to develop and expand, it now has three campuses; in Beigao, Sanlitun and Quanfa with approximately 1,000 students. Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Physics from the University of Wales, Swansea; Master's in Digital Technologies, Communications and Education from the University of Manchester; Master's in Applied Educational Leadership and Management from UCL's Institute of Education; PhD in the Economics of Education at the University of Bath. 

Originally from Wales, joined Daystar in 2019, bringing 17 years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and school leadership positions. Currently serves as Head of Schools of Daystar Academy. 

Believes that education is the cornerstone of individual empowerment and societal progress, and is passionate about Daystar Academy’s commitment to cultivating social innovators who can create positive change in the world. 

Cancellation and Refund Policy

As is customary with events that require detailed advance planning based on attendance, cancellations are discouraged. However, recognising that some circumstances are unavoidable, NESSIC has a cancellation policy similar to other organisations that require significant advanced planning and allow registration transfers within a school/organisation.

Please note requirements:                                                                                                                                    

  • Cancellations and changes must be submitted in writing by email: Attendee email conference.registration@NESSIC.org; Sponsor email sponsorships@NESSIC.org. No cancellations via phone, instant message, or social media will be accepted.

  • Registration transfers. Registration or event ticket may be transferred free of charge to another person in your organisation by written request to NESSIC 4 weeks prior to the first day of the event. After this date cancellations are subject to the following schedule.

  • Refund. If notice of cancellation re the registered participant is received:

    • 30+ days before the first day of the event: 80% refund

    • 15-29 days before the first day of the event: 40% refund

    • Less than 15 days before the first day of the event: no refund

    • Refund processing time: 14 working day after the event has ended.

    • No refunds for no-shows

  • Attendance changes. Kindly notify us of any cancellations or changes, even during no-refund period. This helps us update the attendance roster, prepare name tags and ensure the best possible experience for all participants.

Rules for Participation

  • Full conference registration fee includes access to all sessions, workshops, receptions, tea breaks, lunches and social function.

  • Only NESSIC Participating Schools/Affiliated Partners or individuals from NESSIC Participating Schools/Affiliated Partners can take advantage of the discounted membership registration rate. All NESSIC membership benefits for event registration rates are non-transferable to others outside of the member organisation.

  • The discounted rate must be selected at the time of the initial registration. Due to regulations, refunds cannot be given for incorrect registration submissions.

Photo, Image, and Recording Disclaimer

Registration and attendance at NESSIC events constitutes an agreement by the registrant to NESSIC's use and distribution (both now and in the future) of the registrant or attendee's image or voice in photos, images, video, and/or audio recordings of such events without compensation or approval rights. All professionally taken photos, images videos, and recordings are the property of NESSIC.
